AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port)

Today, I realised that the graphics card AGP port is not as standardised as previously assumed. Friend bought an AGP graphic card recently so he could play more current games but got a rude shock when he discovered that the card could not fit into his motherboard AGP slot. On searching Google, we found that his card was an AGP 3.3v keyed card. Whereas his motherboard slot, has an AGP universal slot. This prompted another colleague to say that his board is not straight and is probably a Fatherboard, just not meant to insert a normal card. Bring out the lube!

Yes. Lesson learn is never assume. We assumed there is only one type.

Even if you get the right connector, you have to ensure that your power supply is able to power the card.
